can be found over here. Sorry to be a bit late on the commentary - I wrote the chapter on my parents' notebook, and whilst it's a darling little computer the keyboard was driving me insane by the time I got to the end of the chapter.

Anyway, on to the commentary...

The prompt, while adorable, threw me for a bit, because I'd been planning to have them break into Hogwarts. The prompt made me decide that they needed to go home first, so I needed a reason why, and a route home. I'd already sent them to the Hog's Head with the intention of bumping into McGonagall and the other Order members, so it made sense to have McGonagall object.

I think McGonagall and Moody have known each other for years, were possibly a little sweet on each other as teenagers, but were both more interested in their jobs than anything else, and now have a sometimes fractious, but still fond, friendship.

Both a teacher and as a student, I've met kids who've been brought up to treat adults as equals, either because they've spent a lot of time with adults or because their parents like it like that (or often, in my job, because they don't understand social rules). Unfortunately for them, it usually comes across as rudeness, so they tend to get into trouble a lot at school, especially when their little friends start copying them (because the little friends usually mean to be rude). The shy ones learn fast, but still drop occasional clangers, the confident ones just keep charging into trouble (hell, even I tend to eviscerate first, ask questions later, unless I know the boy well enough to know if he's got a social communication disorder). So, I believe that Sirius Black would blithely offer to buy his teacher a drink, and while he'd get that it was a little cheeky, he probably wouldn't understand why.

Molly Weasley is about eight and a half months pregnant with Percy at this point.

I like the idea of Lily being a complete lightweight and James being all heroic and understanding and catching her as she falls out of the Floo. They've got to start somewhere, after all. And, yes, that was supposed to be where Harry got it from ^_^ And there's the obligatory Welsh language joke. Lily's version isn't actually that far off (because none of you have been reading it as Lan-mad-ock New-id, right? Right?)

Remus is still oblivious. *sighs*
