Yuletide Recs G-J
Seven more recs.
House Rules - (Jim Butcher, Dresden Files) - Hee. Some things Mouse had learned from Mister.
Movie Night (Jim Butcher, Dresden Files) - Thomas' DVD player has stopped working and for once it isn't Harry's fault. Funny little slice of life fic.
The Accordion Makes All the Difference (Jim Butcher, Dresden Files) - Thomas, Harry and Murphy, plus mistletoe, girls called Candy Cane and lashes of snark. Cute and hilarious ^-^
The First Kiss (He-Man/She-Ra Universe) - Adora fic, with bittersweet kisses. Short and lovely.
The Death of Myth-Making (He-Man/She-Ra Universe) - the She-Ra story I always felt needed to be told, even when I was a little girl and couldn't understand why Adora left her best friend behind. All about loss of innocence and shades of grey and what it really means to be a hero. AU, in that the setting is modern rather than a fantasy world, but the extra grittiness works brilliantly. She-ra/Catra.
For me, a good fic in this universe is one that gets into the dichotomy between the frankly sparkly and upbeat heroic characters and their situation as rebels fighting for the right to exist. I want to see the darker side - the despair and doubts and less than heroic moments. Both of these fics did this by shying away from She-Ra to show a human, flawed Adora and I loved them both for it.
Five Years (Georgette Heyer, Venetia) - Aubrey, being intelligent and self-deprecating, and utterly obtuse. Biting humour and generous characterisation, just like the original book.
Aubrey and Practical Considerations (Georgette Heyer, Venetia) - two cute little breakfast time snippets, the second of which was written for me. Sweet and funny and a little bit naughty.

Also, hello! I hope you don't mind that I have friended you. I read all of your HP fic that I could lay hands on a while back and loved it, particularly "As Red as Hearts and Autumn", which I may in fact have to go back and re-read. Whilst awaiting more with bated breath (when you have time o'course!), I thought I'd pop in and say hi.

Thank you :) I've got very little writing time at the moment, but I have just finished my first longish Harry Potter fic in months, so I'll post it as soon as it's edited.
Welcome to the madness!
