You Are Changing Leaves

Pretty, but soon dead.

I find the word fall really, really weird. Autumn is such a lovely, full-bodied word for the season. Fall just doesn't feel russet enough.

^_^ And there ceases Rosie's exceedingly deep (no, really) linguistic ponderings for the day.

I will probably be running late with the next couple of [livejournal.com profile] scarvesnhats prompts. Real life, sadly, demands its dues (and I have fic deadlines approaching)

'Changing Leaves' too, apparently. I quite like fall as a word though - not sure why, and don't think current post dinner/pub situation puts me in best situation to analyse. Autumn is fine word as well, and on consideration reckon Autumn Journal (which is a fine classicist's poem, written by someone who taught in the Midlands at that) is a better title than Fall Journal...

Really must stop posting when not entirely sober. Sorry. And sorry I haven't reviewed any of your recent fics yet. Fully intend to, I promise.

I usually prefer more archaic words - this is probably one of the few where I'd choose the standard modern usage over another synonym. I just like the weight of autumn as a word. I even appreciate the extra range of metaphor that fall provides but.. *shrugs*
