And that's why I love Remus/Sirius. Because of that fearful, terrible dramatic irony that you used to perfect effect - the fic was funny and sweet on the surface, but with such a horrible sense of foreboding... Brilliant.
The Arthurian legends are dark as hell, aren't they? It's like Robin Hood - that also ends really nastily.
