On another note - I read it with interest as a type 1 diabetic myself, and found myself thinking that you probably weren't, although in comments I see I was wrong about that. I can only conclude that other people's experiences must be so different! Maybe it's because I've only been diabetic for a couple of years (adult onset) so I've never experienced having a house with no carbs in (I have a whole snack cupboard), not being able to eat dessert (my diabetes nurse virtually ordered me to do so) or being ill for 24 hours after a hypo (although admittedly, mine have never resulted in unconsciousness which might make a difference...) I'm lucky too - I crave sugar when hypoing, and don't push it away, although I know of course that happens, having in the past had to force biscuits on wayward students hiding in the loo :)
