Reservoirs (Day 10)
is here.
Yay! I'm caught up again.
This is pretty much just a bridging scene to get them from the pirate dream to meeting the next key character. I wanted to use it to build up a real sense of menace, so we've already primed to view this new character with suspicion. So I went back to the water imagery I was using earlier. All Dumbledore's layers of protections have been physically washed away here - it should, in a way, be quite fitting that he himself is vulnerable when they find him. It'll get much worse, I promise.
There was one line I really wanted to get in, but in didn't fit the mood at that precise point in the narrative. It was Lily being very Petunia-ish and you can have it here as a bonus:
"Somebody," Lily said, pursing her lips as she looked at the waterfall, "doesn't seem to realise there's a drought on."

This fic gets more and more intriguing every chapter, I won't even try to guess where it's going.
And yay! for commentary!
