Reservoirs (Day 6)

can be found over here.

This one was really slow to write, which is odd because it should have been straightforward. They needed to get to Hogwarts, find it all locked up and come up with a way to sneak in. It also needed a little hint of Sirius' reactions to the last section, which the prompt pushed me on a little (this may not be obvious, because Remus is oblivious. I love an oblivious Remus).

I actually went and checked sunset times for this one, and the day lasts about half an hour longer. That real physical disjunction was quite important. This is the start of a new phase of the story and I wanted something strange to mark the change.

I have no idea where the tongue twisters came from. I just guess wizarding kids have their own nursery rhymes and stuff and Sirius was feeling hyper enough to revert to childhood. Oh, and these guys are close enough that everyone can tell him to shut up. No subservient Peter here, thanks.

Gah, the weather has been very un-1976 here, switching between grey mugginess and rain. I wanna write them into a pirate AU (seriously, just visualise it for a few seconds. Isn't that a pretty thought?)

I'm just so happy that you are writing fic again. It's delightful.

Thank you :) It's been a while, and it's been quite interesting. Because I've been writing original fic all along, the changes in my writing haven't been so clear there, but comparing this project to my previous fic lets me see some clear differences. Everything's sharper now.

That's even better, that you've been writing original fic in the interim! I like it that fan fic can still give you insight even so.

Yeah. I tend to approach fanfic in a different way. I write it fast, I don't agonise over details and I let myself mess about more. It's a good learning space, and then I can take things back to my original work.
