It deserved a rec - I loved the story, and it sent me back to a familiar book with new appreciation, which is always lovely.

I've always vaguely liked The Ogre Downstairs, and it's grown on me as I've got older. It's very much of its time, though, and one of the things I liked about your story was the way you picked up on the period details.
