(does it help that I made myself sniffle as I was writing?)

My parents live on the edge of the Downs, and as soon as I saw the prompt I wanted to write about them. Once I got from there to the Pilgrim's Way the whole thing just fell into place in my head. This era fascinates me, but I can hardly ever bear to write about it.
