This was so hard to read (not in a bad way), I just wanted to sniffle most of the way through. I liked how you weaved Remus' thoughts of past and present together. It felt like stream of conscious without being disorderly or chaotic, which is sort of how I imagine his inner thoughts would be.
I liked the passing mention of the will. It is the most sensible explanation I've seen to date; looking at it I'm surprised that I haven't seen that suggested before or thought of it like that.
