The more I wrote Ted's argument the more I found I agreed with him. The Wizarding World seems to have a tremendous disregard for basic legal freedoms. As far as I can tell, they're an unelected government with the technology to monitor their citizens extremely closely (the Underage Wizarding Act is nasty) and no absolute right for a trial by jury (or even a trial at all in Sirius' case). In a lot of cases an accusation is as good as a conviction and only a poweful advocate can intervene. I hope Ted's not the only intelligent Muggleborn to have issues with that.
