Your James' dialog is so spot on. I don't know what it is, but the flow of it is so funny and cheery to read, especially when he's gone all awkward around Lily. I really enjoyed the moments when Peter and Remus teamed up a bit, keeps James and Sirius grounded a bit, I think.

Was he the only one who knew enough to be afraid?

This ending was so haunting. I love how much insight you gave us into Peter and how right it could have all gone and why it didn't. His thoughtful, inward contemplation, coupled with a pragmatism that even Remus doesn't have to that level, really works for his character now and developing into what happens and is later. Especially those thoughts about how they might still think of school later (as we know most of the survivors do think about school, Snape and Sirius especially) even in the midst of a war.

Just a wonderful story and everything I was looking for and more. It had all the tangles of the war, but also pranks and young love, and foreshadowing, and just a depth of characters that really worked for it.
