The Dioskouroi (2942 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Greek and Roman Mythology
Rating: Mature
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Castor/Pollux
Characters: Pollux, Castor, Leda, Tyndareus, Zeus, Jason, Idas, Lynceus, Helen of Troy
Summary: My brother and I were born under different stars. I used to think this was just Mother’s euphemistic way of explaining that we bled different colors and slept different hours and were good at different things.

Castor and Pollux in space! Amazing retelling of the myth in a far future setting.

The Death and Resurrection of Persephone, in stages (5277 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Greek and Roman Mythology
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Persephone (Greek and Roman Mythology), Demeter (Greek and Roman Mythology), Zeus (Greek and Roman Mythology), Artemis (Greek and Roman Mythology), Hades (Greek and Roman Mythology)
Summary: Persephone walks into Hades willingly, Demeter is desolate, Artemis unforgiving, and Persephone has more power than she (or Zeus) realizes.

This is Persephone as she ought to be written – knowing and powerful. I loved the interactions between her and Artemis and the sense of a multi-faceted power struggle giving context to her choices.

I have to see a man about a god (43657 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Greek and Roman Mythology
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Apollo (Greek and Roman Mythology), Dionysus (Greek and Roman Mythology), Artemis (Greek and Roman Mythology), Athena (Greek and Roman Mythology)
Summary: What's another four dead bodies in a city with Zeus as its unofficial king? Apollo just wants to be left alone with his poems and his latest broken heart. Unfortunately for him, Artemis has other ideas. Even more unfortunately, Athena's roped in a stranger to help him solve it. Apollo doesn't make the best first impression on Dionysus, but they've got bigger things to worry about as they race to catch the killer before he finds his next victim. As they pull the threads, a sordid history begins to unravel...

Yes, it's long, but it's worth the time, I promise. This is absolutely wonderful – funny and clever and engaging, with every character working perfectly in the new setting. Oh, and this Apollo, with his terrible poetry and his cluelessness and his loyalty to everyone he loves.

Anne and George of the Thirds (7878 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Famous Five - Enid Blyton
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: George Kirrin, Anne Kirrin, Timmy (Famous Five)
Summary: George's first term at school promises to be a tumultuous one.

George and Anne at school! I loved this George and her struggle to fit in, but what really made this for me was the way the writer showed Anne. It's so good to see her confidence and steadiness in this different environment.

Bellflower and Hellebore (2078 words) by Anonymous

Rating: Mature
Warning: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Characters: Wolf (Fairy Tales), Witch (Fairy Tales), Witch (Rapunzel)
Summary: The year is 1829, and the world has little room in it for wolves.

The best type of fairytale fic, where all sorts of stories twine around each other like thorns, and the story at the heart is all about dangerous transformations.

Waking (8742 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms, Sleeping Beauty - All Media Types
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Original Female Character
Summary: The Princess, and the King and Queen and everyone else in the castle, slept for a hundred years. So what happened when an ordinary person needed her King, ninety-nine years on?

I loved the protagonist of this – her courage and her determination. It also brings to life the way the country outside has responded to the mysterious absence of its king.

The Killing Choice (6426 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms, Jack and the Beanstalk (Fairy Tale), Goldilocks and the Three Bears (Fairy Tale)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Major Character Death
Summary: Jack's dead, and Constable Bruin has his work cut out for him. The murder method is unusual, the victim's past is murky - and what about the mysterious object found in Jack's clenched hand...?

I would never have thought of having Baby Bear grow up to be a policeman, but this works so perfectly, from Bruin's persistence to his best friend Goldie, mostly reformed, to the cleverness of the actual crime. Charming and funny.

March, Enholt and Margrave: The Ten Year's War (3317 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: Major Character Death
Relationships: OFC/OFC, OMC/OFC
Characters: Princess (Fairy Tales), Original Female Character, Original Male Character
Summary: The Goose Girl, told through the lens of a three-way conflict, historical documents, and incidental steampunk. (Names were taken at random from Wikipedia and put through a blender, there is no intent to mirror real life events at all.)

Beautifully done, with the emotional impact of the story all between the lines of the historical documents.

And above all, a prince who sets himself the impossible task of capturing the sun. Once upon a time, happily ever after was a little harder to come by.

A graceful story of a selfish prince who learns better. Lovely.

Relationships: Kars Adon/Hern
Characters: Hern (Dalemark Quartet), Kars Adon
Summary: After he dies, Hern has a lot of time to think. Post Spellcoats, pre-Crown of Dalemark.

Hern being Hern – prickly and restless and clever. I love the way that their fascination with each other just snaps back into place.

A perfectly written Marianne finding all the ways she fits in at the castle.

Summary: Now a pilot in the Air Transport Auxiliary, ferrying planes from the factory to RAF bases, Petrova's dream of flying has finally come true. While stationed at Luton, she meets Yuliya Ivanova, a young woman who is preparing for a dangerous mission.

Convincingly written with a great OC and a real sense of the intensity of relationships in wartime.
